Seen as a potential challenger to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Angela Rayner said she had been “exonerated” of the accusation she had “deliberately sought to avoid tax”.
It comes as Starmer has warned ministers and MPs that a leadership contest could result in “chaos”, after allies of Health Secretary Wes Streeting said they expected him to launch a challenge as soon as today.
